Not only did i get to produce the above featured song on the EP, but i was asked to do a little intro for it too! As for my contribution, it's actually dedicated to not only De La but also to the man who inspired me to pursue a career in radio/music- my uncle... the late Melvin Lindsey, who pioneered nightly radio around the world in the 70s & 80s with "The Original Quiet Storm". Ironically, the song he used to open his show with was Smokey Robinson's "Quiet Storm"...
This song gives me chills whenever i hear it as it instantly conjures up thoughts of my uncle as i grew up going to sleep every night listening to him on the radio, so the fact Prince Paul used it on "Breakadawn" made it extra special.. add in MJ's "I Can't Help It" and it was a wrap!
My story is just one that makes the release of this EP so special, as I'm sure fellow contributing producers K-Def and Astronote have their own as well. Find out more about Salutes as well as download it for FREE HERE! Props to Danny at The Find, John & Damu of ReDef and of course the legendary De La Soul!
